More Notes On Stephanie McMahon’s WWE Leave of Absence, Reaction Backstage
UPDATE 2: Fightful Select has a few more tidbits about Stephanie McMahon’s leave of absence from WWE. The outlet notes that there were “rumblings” that McMahon had been less involved in WWE as of late.
In addition, one rep contacted specified that McMahon is still “a part of the WWE family,” and those spoken to around the matter very quickly shot down any possible rumors that McMahon was pushed out of the position.
UPDATE: More details have come out regarding Stephanie McMahon’s surprising announcement today that she’s taking a leave of absence from WWE. As noted earlier, McMahon announced that she will be taking a leave of absence from the “majority of [her] responsibilities at WWE.” PWInsider reports that the word within the company is that McMahon is in fact taking time to focus on her family as she noted in the announcement and will return to the company at some point. However, at this point there is no timetable for her return.
McMahon is the Chief Brand Officer of WWE so someone will need to handle those responsibilities while she is away, though there’s no word on who that might be. McMahon and Triple H have three daughters who are 15, 13, and 11 and Triple H was away from WWE for several months after having a procedure following a cardiac incident in September of 2021. He officially announced his retirement in March.
PWInsider also notes in a follow-up report that “no one but the most inner circle” had any inkling that McMahon’s leave of absence was coming and that among the many people they’ve heard from, everyone was 100% shocked by the news.
ORIGINAL: WWE Chief Brand Officer Stephanie McMahon, the daughter of WWE Chairman & CEO Vince McMahon, announced today that she will be taking a “leave of absence” from most of her responsibilities in WWE. You can read her full statement posted on Twitter below:
“As of tomorrow, I am taking a leave of absence from the majority of my responsibilities at WWE. WWE is a lifelong legacy for me and I look forward to returning to the company that I love after taking this time to focus on my family.”
Stephanie McMahon is married to WWE executive Triple H, who recently suffered from heart issues last year when he underwent a procedure to have a defibrillator put in his chest. His health issues forced his in-ring retirement, which he confirmed earlier this year.
