TNA DUBLIN NATIONAL STADIUM JANUARY 24 2011

I attended the TNA show last night in the National Stadium in Dublin. First off, all parking at the stadium is absolutely terrible. The stadium was sold out with around 2,000 in attendance. The atmosphere was electric all night, far better than any Irish WWE shows.

Jeremy Borash opened the show offering backstage passes to the fans who were the loudest and did the usual pre show crowd hyping routine.

Match 1.
X-Division Championship
Kazarian def. Chris Sabin and Mark Haskins
Typical fast paced X division match. Loads of “Motor City” chants for Sabin and Kazarian got a few cheers as well. Mark Haskins looked ok. He doesn’t seem to be anything special. Sabin came close to winning a few times, the finish came when Kazarian hit the inverted piledriver on Haskins. After the match Kaz got on the mic and said “Fortune rules, Nexus sucks” directed at some guys in Nexus shirts.

Match 2.
Mickie James & Angelina Love def. Madison Rayne & Tara.
Before the match the worlds most “infamous” referee Earl Hebner was introduced (he came out to Tommy Dreamer’s “Man in the Box” ECW theme). He got the “you screwed Bret” chants, then he revealed his T-shirt that said “Damn Right I Did”. He then proceeded to put on Hitman shades and strut round the ring like Bret. The match was much better than expected. Mickie was hugely popular. Madison & Tara couldn’t stand the sight of our “Lay-Cool > Beautiful People” sign. At one point in the match Hebner kissed Madison. The finish came when Mickie hit the jumping DDT on Madison.

Match 3.
Rob Van Dam def. Matt Hardy
Matt Hardy got monstrous heat! He was jeered out of the building. He spotted our “Val Venis owns Matt Hardy” sign and stared at it for a good 2 minutes. RVD got one of the biggest pops of the night. He was super over with the Irish fans. Once the match started the abuse for Matt Hardy got worse. With chants such as “Matt’s pregnant” & “Val Venis”. The match was far better than the Genesis match. Matt pulled out a moonsault, RVD won after some nice kicks and a 5 Star Frog Splash.

Match 4.
TNA World Tag Team Championship
Beer Money, with Ric Flair, def. The British Invasion
As expected the Brits got huge heat from the Irish. Beer Money got the second biggest reaction so far and it got even louder when Flair walked out behind them. Flair got on the mic and talked about how the Irish are better beer drinkers than James Storm. The crowd then burs into singing Ole Ole for a few minutes. Flair got huge respect from the crowd and he loved every second of it. At one point their was a “Flair for Taoiseach” chant (Taoiseach is Ireland’s prime minister). This was the match of the night in my opinion. Beer Money had the place going crazy for the entire match. The Brits teased Flair by putting Storm in a Figure 4 leglock. Roode got the hot tag which led to the finish, that included a super-kick German suplex combo from the Brits, followed by Flair chopping Williams on the outside. Beer Money hit the DWI on Magnus for the win. Flair thanked Ireland after the match. James Storm laid on the ground for a while after the match and was helped to the back by Roode and a referee.

Intermission

Dixie Carter was on the arena floor signing autographs and taking pictures.

Match 5.
Matt Morgan & Shannon Moore def. The Pope D’Angelo Dinero & Jeff Jarrett
Pope got a good reaction coming out, Jarrett got huge heat and “You sold out” chants. He got on the mic and cut a great promo talking about how the Irish government is in trouble because we elected Brian Cowen. Morgan got a good reaction as well. Basic tag match. Morgan was only tagged in once. This was to clean house and beat Pope with a discus clothesline. Matt Morgan and Pope were laughing at our “Scott hall drank my beer sign”. Dixie Carter then spoke to the crowd and had a message from Kurt Angle apologizing for not being there. There was a big “Fire Russo” chant for her.

Match 6.
World Heavyweight Championship
Mr. Anderson def. Jeff Hardy
Jeff got as much heat as his brother did, which I was not expecting, but he loved every second of it. Anderson got a huge response from the crowd and he did the bit where JB holds the mic over his head so he can do his intro. Really good main event match. Hardy was destroyed with chants such as “Rehab”, “guilty”, “Just Say No” & “CM Punk”. Good back and forth match which included both Brian and Earl Hebner being knocked down and interference from Matt Hardy. Hardy missed a swanton and Anderson hit The Mic Check for the win. After the Anderson got a kid from the crowd to do his winning announcement. He then wondered where he could get some beer, which led to Beer Money, Flair and the rest of the babyfaces having a beer bash in the ring. Great way to end an excellent show!!

Definitely check out TNA live. It’s 10 times the show you see on television every week.
