Tony D’Angelo has his first NXT Championship defense in the books, defeating Ethan Page to retain the title on this week’s WWE NXT. D’Angelo put the title on the line against Page on Tuesday night’s night one of NXT Revenge.
Page had asked for backup in the form of Ricky Saints earlier in the night and Saints came down to the ring early on, but was dragged underneath the ring by Shiloh Hill. He came out with Saints tied up and dragged him away to the back in order to keep it fair.
D’Angelo and Page went back and forth in the match, trading nearfalls. D’Angelo ultimately picked up the win by hitting a spear into the announce table off the barricade, then threw Page into the ring to hit Dead to Rights for the victory. You can see highlights from the match below.
D’Angelo has been champion for 11 days, having won it from Joe Hendry in a Fatal Four-Way match also featuring Page and Saints at NXT Stand & Deliver.
