Update on Shawn Michaels’ Backstage Role in WWE NXT 2.0
– During today’s edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer provided a behind-the-scenes update on WWE Hall of Famer Shawn Michaels and his work with the WWE NXT 2.0 brand.
According to Meltzer, Shawn Michaels is basically “the guy” right now in NXT, despite initially only being brought in as a coach for the brand. Meltzer also reported that WWE officials “are very high” on Michaels’ backstage work with NXT 2.0 right now.
This appears to indicate that Michaels has taken over helming NXT 2.0 following Triple H’s recent cardiac event, where he underwent surgery. It should be noted that WrestleVotes reported last week that WWE was very disappointed internally with the brand, which has seen its ratings and audience decline since the NXT 2.0 revamp started several months ago.
