WrestleMania 35 Referee Rod Zapata Reportedly Fined For Main Event Finish
– More details emerge regarding the WrestleMania 35 main event. According to Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select, Rod Zapata was fined for his role in the finish. Sapp reports, “Zapata was pulled aside by Vince McMahon, who discussed the situation, and Zapata was subsequently fined for the main event finish.”
Referees are instructed to call matches as a shoot, meaning Zapata should not have started his count until Ronda Rousey’s shoulders were flush with the mat following the crucifix by Becky Lynch.
Sapp also reports Dan Engler (formerly known as Rudy Charles) was fined for an incident in the SmackDown Tag Team Title match. No further details were given.
There have, of course, been conflicting reports about whether the WrestleMania 35 main event finish went off as planned or if it didn’t.
