Note On WWE NXT Plans For Birthright After Not Signing David Finlay

A new report says that WWE is continuing as originally planned with its Birthright stable in NXT despite not signing David Finlay. As you likely know, Finlay made his AEW debut on last week’s Dynamite and signed with the company after his NJPW exit last month. Finlay joined his former NJPW stablemates Gabe Kidd and Clark Connors in the company as The Dogs. It was reported that Finlay had contact with WWE, but signed with AEW in part because WWE wanted Finlay in NXT and was not willing to budge on that.
NXT is currently building up a new stable of second generation talent known as Birthright, which added Charlie Dempsey to its numbers on last night’s show. The group consists of Lexis King, Arianna Grace, Stacks, Uriah Connors, and Dempsey, with Dempsey turning on his former stablemate Tavion Heights after his father William Regal came out with Fit Finlay, who is the father of both David Finlay and Connors.
A question in the latest Fightful Select Answers Q&A asked if Finlay not coming to WWE changed plans for Birthright. Sean Ross Sapp noted that as of this past week, Birthright is continuing just as originally planned. He noted in his opinion that Finlay would have almost certainly ended up in the group had he gone to WWE.
