WWE Reportedly Still Wants To Do Roman Reigns vs. The Rock

As previously reported, Cody Rhodes vs. Roman Reigns is the current plan for Wrestlemania, although CM Punk and Brock Lesnar have caused changes. Lesnar has been removed from all creative plans going forward while Punk has a triceps tear.
The Wrestling Obsever Newsletter reports that Reigns vs. The Rock is “not out of play” for the event, or possibly after. Rock has been openly talking about it, both on television and in media interviews. He’s also reportedly “heavily” pushing for it to happen. As of this past weekend, the plan was for Roman vs. Cody at Mania, with Reigns vs. Rock later on. There was a discussion to have the match in Saudi Arabia. It was noted that perhaps the play is for the Saudi government to pay more money in order to get a match with that much star power. It may also be pushed back to next year’s Wrestlemania.
The Punk injury resulted in the segment on RAW in which Seth Rollins pushed for Rhodes to choose him instead of Reigns. If that happened, it would put Rollins vs. Rhodes on one night and Reigns vs. Rock on the other night. If this ends up happening, the decision was made after Punk was injured. However, it’s unknown if it will at this time. A source noted that the decision would be clear soon, possibly as soon as tonight’s Smackdown or just after.
