Details On The Hardys’ WWE Negotiations, Legal Issues With Impact And ROH Contract
PWInsider has updates on Matt and Jeff Hardy’s situations with ROH, Impact Wrestling and WWE.
– As we previously reported, Rebecca Hardy said that the Hardy family has hired legal representation and have turned down a proposal from Anthem Media. Anthem claims that they own the “Broken Universe” and not the Hardys. Matt has been using the gimmick on social media and the independent scene. The situation will either be dropped or it’ll go to court. Anthem still claims that Matt Hardy was not the sole creator of the “Broken” characters and are looking for a settlement that would see the idea licensed to the Hardys. That way, if they take it and make money with it elsewhere, Anthem will get part of the revenue.
– Meanwhile, WWE has reportedly offered the Hardys a contract and there are discussions going on between both sides. It’s believed to be a question of “when”, not “if” the two return to the company. However, the deals would only be for Matt and Jeff, not Reby, Senor Benjamin or Maxel. They could always appear if they’re needed but they wouldn’t be offered deals. The only problem at the moment is that the two may not be willing or able to do a full-time WWE touring schedule at this time in their lives.
– The two have a short-term agreement with ROH that will likely end on April 1 at Supercard of Honor. Both parties are said to be open to additional dates. The “Broken” characters have been toned down to prevent Anthem from going after ROH. They weren’t happy with the last minute cease and desist letters before their 15th Anniversary PPV.
