Up next was another installment of the Abraham Washington Show with Abraham Washington and Aksana. Abe’s guest was Alex Riley who told the FCW universe he had looked at the man in the mirror and wanted to be a man of integrity. Riley reminded the fans he had never held gold in FCW and then called out Wade Barrett, who was doing commentary.
FCW Heavyweight Champion Justin Gabriel and FCW Tag Team Champions Brett DiBiase & Joe Hennig defeated Curt Hawkins, Jackson Andrews and Vance Archer when Gabriel hit the 450 splash on Hawkins. Gabriel attacked Wade Barrett, who was doing commentary, after the match. The two had a pretty nasty brawl all of the way to the back.
A NTX Battle Royal closed the show. Wade Barrett and Justin Gabriel, who has returned to the ring, were both tossed over the top rope by Michael Tarver. Tarver was then eliminated by Daniel Bryan. Bryan was eliminated by Darren Young. Heath Slater was eliminated by Skip Sheffield. Young and Sheffield went back and forth for a while before Sheffield threw Young over the top rope to win.
Notes:
Savannah did the ring announcing….Drew McIntyre was backstage….Dusty Rhodes/Byron Saxton and Wade Barrett/Byron Saxton were the commentary pairs…..Trent Beretta was at the arena before the show but did not wrestle…..Jackson Andrews is a jacked 7’2″ giant who isn’t overly clumsy in the ring. He could he a real monster if they bring him along slowly enough. The sky is the limit with him….Johnny Curtis is a decent worker (for FCW standards) but seeing him wrestle three times in one night might have done him a disservice with the FCW fans at the show…..Aksana and Tony Atlas speak about the same level of broken English but Aksana is far more aesthetically pleasing…..FCW Heavyweight Champion Justin Gabriel came out to his former tag team partner’s (Kris Logan) theme music. The FCW Arena is still stunned that they let him go….Naomi Knight (former Orlando Magic cheerleader Trinity McRae) is improving in the ring. She hit some moves much cleaner in the past, but she still has a ways to go….Joe Doering was unable to get himself over with the FCW crowd in his debut. Much of the crowd considered him a Heidenreich clone, which is a shame given his exploits working with All-Japan. His opponent, Johnny Prime, certainly didn’t do him any favors. I expected a bit more out of Doering….The Gabriel-Kaval was match started slowly but built into a great back-and-forth battle. It was a fun match that could have gone either way several times….Alex Riley’s apparent face turn has to be the last gasp for his character. I hope it works for him since he’s a decent worker and he gets a shot, but the crowd has gotten used to really hating him….The Gabriel-Barrett brawl began with Gabriel jumping Barrett at the announcer’s desk. It was a fun brawl and brought out some emotion in Gabriel’s character which should help him down the line in FCW….Daniel Bryan was wrestling with taped ribs and was selling the effects of the vicious bump from Tuesday’s NXT show.
