Official Announcement For Viva La Lucha PPV
MASKED REPUBLIC ANNOUNCES LINEUP AND RELEASES PREVIEW SHOW FOR PAY PER VIEW DEBUT
VIVA LA LUCHA: REVOLUTION DEBUTS JUNE 11th THROUGHOUT NORTH AMERICA
The first lucha PPV series available in Hi-Definition, English and Spanish stars Blue Demon Jr., LA Park, Perro Aguayo Jr., Hijo De Rey Misterio and over a dozen more lucha libre stars!
San Diego, May 25, 2010 – Masked Republic and G-Funk Sports & Entertainment announced the final lineup for the upcoming debut of their Viva La Lucha pay-per-view series and released a preview show available now on the VivaLaLucha.com website and soon on cable and satellite systems throughout the United States. The event itself will be available to cable and satellite TV subscribers in the U.S. via pay-per-view (PPV) and Video on Demand (VOD) services provided by Avail-TVN and iN DEMAND L.L.C. and Echostar’s DISH Network and in Canada via Bell TV and Viewer’s Choice.
Promising “something for everyone” the event features matches that range from breathtaking high flying characteristically lucha libre technical bouts to hardcore extreme matches. The event also marks the worldwide television debut of Hijo De Rey Misterio, son of the legendary Rey Misterio, Sr., and cousin of WWE star and former World Heavyweight Champion Rey Misterio Jr. Hijo will team up with Groon XXX to take on the high flying team of world travelers Oriental and Super Nova.
The NWA Mexico Lightweight title will be on the line as champion Turbo defends his title against his former training partner and current arch-rival Black Thunder. These two have battled all over the planet, but with the title on the line and the world watching, this will be the most important match of their careers.
At just 19 years old Mexico born Mr. Aguila, then know as Essa Rios, took the then WWF by storm with his high flying lucha libre style and would go on to become WWF Light Heavyweight Champion. At just 18 years old US born TJ Perkins would take Mexico by storm and that year, 2003, win the CMLL Best New Sensation award. Since then Perkins has traveled the world becoming even better at his craft. Now, these two 10 year plus vets who still have youth on their side will go mano-a-mano at Viva La Lucha: Revolution.
Fans of the more extreme wrestling style will not be left out of the action because the most hardcore wrestlers in lucha have gathered together to be part of Revolution.
In a Five Way War Extreme Elimination Match it’s every man for himself as two of Mexico’s hardcore innovators Damien 666 and Halloween step in the ring with two men who are redefining what it means to be extreme luchadors, Charly Manson and X Fly, and the man known around the world as the XPW King of the Deathmatch, Supreme. And, while Supreme’s title will not be on the line in this match, whoever comes out on top will certainly have the right to claim top contendership to any of the wrestling world’s hardcore titles.
One such title is the Xtreme Latin American Wrestling Heavyweight title currently held by lucha legend LA Park. Once known as “The Chairman” in World Championship Wrestling, the original La Parka may still dance and find a moment or two to make fans laugh at his in-ring antics, but more often than not, Park is now known as one of the most hardcore wrestlers in all of Mexico. But, Park was recently put to his greatest test to date as former ECW and XPW World Champion, the legendary Sabu! While the other matches on the broadcast are originating from Mexico City, this bout actually took place recently in Hidalgo, Mexico, and until now, has only been seen by the fans who were there to witness the mayhem live. But, fans who view Viva La Lucha: Revolution will see “all killer, no filler” the best 15 minutes of this nearly half hour affair.
Plus, lucha legend and former NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion Blue Demon, Jr. has challenged a man he has feuded with all over the world for two years now, Pro Wrestling Revolution Heavyweight Champion Oliver John, to come to Mexico City and defend his title against him. To this point Oliver has not accepted the invitation, but Blue Demon, Jr. is scheduled to appear on Revolution regardless.
And, the leader of the pack, one of the most popular wrestlers in Mexico today, despite being a rule breaking, no respect for authority, pure as they come “rudo,” Perro Aguayo, Jr., has promised to make an appearance that will make an impact on Revolution.
Legends, stars, tremendous high-flyers, extreme hardcore icons, all taking part in the first ever lucha libre broadcast from Mexico in brilliant HD and with commentary available in both English and Spanish. This revolution will be televised, and it will be known as Viva La Lucha!
Viva La Lucha: Revolution debuts on PPV on Friday, June 11.
