Seth Rollins & Becky Lynch Talk Dislike For Money In the Bank, Rollins Recalls Six-Man Tags With The Shield

Seth Rollins and Becky Lynch both say they hate Money in the Bank, the Royal Rumble and Elimination Chambers due to their need for control. Rollins revealed during WWE: Unreal season two that he dislikes the Money in the Bank match due to his being a “control freak.” He and Lynch feel the same way about it, and in an appearance on My Mom’s Basement with Robbie Fox they noted it extends to similar chaotic matches like the Chamber and Rumble.
Rollins also spoke about his work in six-man tag team matches during his time with Roman Reigns and Jon Moxley (then Dean Ambrose) in The Shield, noting he enjoyed those because the trio were always on the same page. You can see highlights below:
Rollins On Why He Hates Money in the Bank:
“It stems from me being a control freak. That’s where it stems from. And the more moving parts is the less I can control. Yeah [same thing with Royal Rumble and Elimination Chamber], because I can only I can only do so much. And I’m like — I have a vision, I see how it should be. And when things don’t go how I see them happening or how I feel that they should be going, I get so frustrated. So like ladder matches like that, where there’s moving parts and you just you can’t control how things are going to happen. Random ladders breaking, There’s a whole bunch else going on. [Ladders are ] never in the right spot.
Lynch On Being the Same Way:
“Oh, 100%, yeah. Actually, when it comes to planning matches, etc. I think we take on similar roles of being the leader, being the curator, the one that’s like, ‘Okay, this needs to be here. This person needs to be there.'”
On His Six-Man Tag Matches In The Shield:,
“I was actually spoiled by the Shield six-man [tag matches]. Because I mean, Jon and Roman and I were all on the same page pretty much, like quickly. So once we got once we were all rocking and rolling, it was smooth like butter, you know what I mean? So you go back and look at some of those, just the effortlessness with which we we had those trios matches was — I mean it really something. Especially for the time. It wasn’t — that style wasn’t cooking in WWE in 2012 or whatever it was.
So, we kind of innovated a different — it wasn’t like six-mans were a new thing. But the way we were doing them as a three-man unit, you didn’t see that in WWE. And we were fortunate to be on the other side of some pretty incredible talents, but even when we weren’t we were able feed off each other. And so I’d say I was spoiled, because we were all just — it was a well-oiled machine.”
