Jacy Jayne had an hard fight on her hands, but she was able to outlast Kendal Grey (with help) to retain her Women’s Title at NXT New Year’s Evil. Jayne defeated Grey on Tuesday night’s special episode in a defense of her championship. The match saw Grey survive Jayne’s offense and pull out all the stops, coming close on several occasions. She was even able to avoid a loss when Fatal Influence’s Lainey Reid and Fallon Henley tried to get involved at first, with Wren Sinclair helping counter the group.
However, eventually the numbers turned them. Henley was able to hold onto Jayne to stop a Flatliner behind the referee’s back. Jayne then countered with the Rolling Encore for the win.
Jayne’s second NXT Women’s Title reign now stands at 50 days. She defeated Tatum Paxley to recapture the title at NXT Gold Rush night one. Grey, the WWE EVOLVE Women’s Champion, earned her title shot via the women’s Iron Survivor win at NXT Deadline. You can see highlights from the match below.
