John Cena has reacted to Samoa Joe’s tribute from last night’s AEW Dynamite.
All Elite Wrestling presented Dynamite: Winter Is Coming from College Park in Georgia last night. The show was headlined by the AEW World Championship bout between defending champion Samoa Joe and challenger Eddie Kingston. During the match, Joe gave a salute as he locked Cena’s trademark submission move, STF, on The Mad King.
Earlier today, the 17-time World Champion reacted to Samoa Joe’s tribute on Instagram, sharing an uncaptioned picture of the AEW star’s salute.
Check out John Cena’s post below:
Kingston was able to get out of the submission lock, but the Samoan Submission Machine eventually forced his opponent to tap out via Coquina Clutch, retaining the AEW World Title in the process.
Joe and Cena go a long way back. They trained together at UPW in California during the initial stages of their respective careers. They also shared the ring multiple times during Joe’s WWE stint.
Cena is set to retire as a pro wrestler this weekend. He will take on two-time World Heavyweight Champion Gunther in his farewell bout at Saturday Night’s Main Event on December 13. The Ring General earned the opportunity by defeating LA Knight in the final of The Last Time Is Now Tournament last Friday.
