Note on Drew McIntyre Not Appearing on Last Night’s WWE SmackDown

– As previously reported, Drew McIntyre drew some attention when he blacked out his Twitter profile and removed all references to WWE from his profile information. As noted, the former WWE Champion is currently on the final year of his WWE contract, and McIntyre was intending to wait until closer to the expiration date to sign anything as he has multiple “factors” to consider.

PWInsider reports that McIntyre was actually conducting multiple local interviews over the past week to promote last night’s edition of WWE SmackDown in Lincoln, Nebraska, suggesting he was scheduled at one point to take part in the show. The Pinnacle Bank Arena also had a promotional image for yesterday’s TV taping with McIntyre on it.

Drew McIntyre has not wrestled since the Intercontinental Title Triple Threat Match against Gunther and Sheamus at WrestleMania 39: Night 2, which Gunther won. Whether this is McIntyre attempting to lean into a storyline, or if this is related to his WWE contract situation, remains to be seen.
