Orange Cassidy Says He Loves Getting Advice, Even If He Doesn’t Use It

Orange Cassidy may not always use the advice he gets from people, but he says he always appreciates receiving it. There has been a perception that the AEW locker room doesn’t take advice from veterans, something exacerbated by occasional comments made by talent. Tully Blanchard and Arn Anderson both said talent have not been receptive to advice during their times there.
Cassidy’s reaction to certain criticisms of his unique style has contributed to the belief that he doesn’t take advice. He said in 2024 that people have tried to tell him what works for them, and he does his own thing. He clarified his comments in an interview with Adrian Hernandez. You can see the highlights below:
On Getting Advice From Other Wrestlers:
“I love getting advice and feedback, especially from people that don’t like what I’m doing. Because I think it’s all very valuable. You know, you may not use it directly. But it’s so — I don’t think people are as appreciative as they should be of feedback. Actual feedback, and not just hate-posting, whatever that garbage is.
“But like actual feedback from people that have been doing it. Because then you get to see it from a different angle, and you get to ee it from a different view. Even now to this day, like Sting said something to me a couple weeks ago when he watched my match. And it’s like — I mean, come on, it’s Sting. But it’s just really awesome that he took the time to do it.”
On His Reputation For Not Taking Advice:
“I think I spoke incorrectly when I was like, ‘People give me advice and I–‘ I always appreciate advice. I think it’s great. It’s just, I may not use it because it may not be what I’m going for.”
