Tommy Dreamer Praises Tatum Paxley’s Title Win At NXT Halloween Havoc: ‘She’s Very Much Loved’

Tatum Paxley captured the NXT Women’s Champion at NXT Halloween Havoc, and Tommy Dreamer was very happy to see it. Paxley defeated Jacy Jayne to become the new champion at Saturday’s show. The win marks Paxley’s first championship in WWE. Dreamer spoke on Busted Open After Dark about the win and the fan support Paxley has. You can see highlights below:

On Paxley Winning the Title:

“The match was awesome. For Tatum, she’s loved. She reminds me a lot of different people that didn’t get enough love, or don’t get enough love. And she has a unique relationship with her audience. She reminds me of someone who she kind of patterned her character, career [after]. Daffney, Who was very, very much loved in her wrestling career.

“Shotzi. Mia Yim. There’s a lot of this underground groundswell for certain talents where like, ‘No. We really like this person. Maybe ’cause they are different, maybe ’cause they work different. But we really like you, and we are waiting.’ And it’s like — you could always see like, ‘Oh, here’s all the main event players coming in.’ Especially at one point where NXT was loaded. And I’m talking like Stephanie Vaquer, Giulia. Jordynne Grace. They’re all coming in and like, ‘Oh, these are all our next top top acts.’ Jacy Jane becomes your champion, but then you also have like the Lola Vices. The list goes on and on for the top level women in NXT. But the entire time it’s like, she’s right there the entire time in its Tatum.”

On the Fan Support Behind Paxley:

“I was there live when she won that battle Royal to become the #1 contender. That place erupted. And when you talk about a overall — that place holds I don’t know how many, let’s say 500. Maybe a little more. It sounded like there was 4,000 or 5,000 people in there, and it was through the roof.

“And it’s a studio where there’s also soundproofing. I’m way in the back, and I hear this wave of excitement. And when then she hugged Lyra? Next level. [She’s] very, very much loved, and great match.”
