WWE News: AJ Styles Promises to Retain Title at Royal Rumble, Title Match Advertised For Next Week’s Smackdown

– AJ Styles spoke with “Mene” Gene Okerlund about his WWE Championship match at the Royal Rumble during tonight’s Raw. After starting with a Hulk Hogan-esque “Lemme tell you something, Mene Gene!,” Styles promised that he would remain the champion after he was done with Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn. Styles will defend the title against the two in a handicap match at Sunday’s PPV.

– WZ reports that a local ad in Philadelpha was advertising a match between Styles and Owens for the WWE Championship at next week’s Smackdown, with Daniel Bryan set to serve as the special referee. As noted last week, this is likely to be a dark match main event.
