Ciocco’s AEW Collision Review 12.25.25

SICKOS! Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to you all! If you have had a fantastic holiday, then I’m happy for you all! But if you haven’t and you need a lift me up, then perhaps Christmas Collision will do the trick! After all, even some amazing Continental Classic can soothe the most savage beast!

As we approach the final match for every man tonight, the Gold League is in complete chaos, as literally EVERYONE in the league has 6 points and matching 2-2 records! To settle this dispute, Kevin Knight will face off with PAC, Kyle Fletcher will face off with Jack Perry, and Speedball Mike Bailey will face Kazuchika Okada.

In the Blue league, things are a little more defined, since Konosuke Takeshita is the only man from either league to clinch a spot in the Semifinals this Saturday. Be that as it may, he still has the chance to run up his record some more when he faces Mascara Dorada in their respective final matches. Claudio Castagnoli will look to enter the semifinals himself with a win over the wineless Roderick Strong, the only man eliminated from the tourney to this point. Finally, Orange Cassidy will do battle with one of his longest running nemeses in Jon Moxley.

Even with a show dedicated nearly to everything Continental Classic, there is still time for other things, such as a non-title match pitting the AEW Women’s World Tag Team Champions the Babes of Wrath against Mya World and Hyan. All of this and, I am sure, so much more in store for tonight!

And, for one final time as we wrap up the C2 tonight, the standings are as such:

Blue League:
^Konosuke Takeshita (3-0-1-10 points)
Claudio Castagnoli (2-1-1-7 points)
Orange Cassidy (2-2-6 points)
Jon Moxley (2-2-6 points)
Mascara Dorada (2-2-6 points)
*Roderick Strong (0-4-0 points)

Gold League
Kyle Fletcher (2-2-6 points)
Kazuchika Okada (2-2-6 points)
Speedball Mike Bailey (2-2-6 points)
PAC (2-2-0-6 points)
Kevin Knight (2-2-0-6 points)
Jack Perry (2-2-0-6 points)
*Denotes wrestler who is eliminated
^Denotes wrestler who has clinched a semifinals spot

So, without any further ado, let’s get ready to Collide on this Christmas Night!

Tonight, Christmas is on tape delay from the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City! Tony Schiavone and Nigel McGuinness are on the call tonight.

PROTOSTARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!

Continental Classic Match – Gold League: Kyle Fletcher vs. Jungle Jack Perry (Both men are 2-2-6 points)

The bell rings, both men look around for a bit as the fans chant A-E-DUB. Early lockup favors Fletcher. He takes Perry to the corner and then tries to intimidate him by starring him down. Perry pushes him away and we get another lockup. This time, Perry grabs arm control and turns it into a headlock. Perry off the ropes, but Fletcher knocks him to the mat. Perry tries a dropkick, but Fletcher holds on to the ropes.

Fletcher shots for the single leg, but Perry with a front face lock instead. Fletcher goes to pick the ankle of Perry, but he rolls through the legs of Fletcher. Kyle goes low with a dropkick to the knee, as he proceeds to snap the left leg of Perry. Fletcher with stomps to the bad leg of Perry against the bottom rope, and he gouges the 5-count.

Perry attempts some chops, but Kyle eats them and strikes Perry. Perry tries a Rana, but Fletcher cuts that off and turns it into a single leg crab. Perry makes it to the bottom rope to break the hold. Fletcher with another crank on the leg, he cranks the ankle, then proceeds to stomp on it. Perry tries to kick away Fletcher in the corner, but Kyle shuts that down with a chop. Perry stumbles out of the corner with chops that have no effect.

Perry avoids Fletcher’s corner charge and smashes Kyle face first into the corner. Perry with a Rana over the ropes and to the floor. Perry tries another Rana on the floor, but Kyle cuts it off and hits an apron powerbomb. Back in the ring, Fletcher with a stalling vertical suplex, but Perry bites his way out of it! This pisses off Fletcher, who proceeds to suplex Perry against the bottom rope.

Fletcher pulls Perry around the ring post and moves the steps. He stomps repeatedly on the bad leg and ankle of Perry. Kyle sits down and unties the left boot of Perry, he takes off his sock and shoves it in his mouth, and he stomps on the exposed foot of Perry as we hit the break.

Perry’s attempt to fight back is futile as we return from break. Fletcher’s overconfidence, however, is his biggest adversary, as he runs square into a dropkick from Jack. Perry lays in some forearms, he tries his Guy wall jump off the top rope, but his leg gives out. He’s still able to dropkick Fletcher out of the ring. Perry hits a Tope to Fletcher, but he won’t go down, so Perry tries a Tope into a DDT, but Fletcher catches him and hits a Sheer Drop Brainbuster on the ramp!

Fletcher returns Perry to the ring and hits a Michinoku Driver. He did the deal, but only for a two! Fletcher lines up Perry for a big boot in the corner. He puts Perry on the top rope and follows, but Perry fights him off some. Perry squashes Kyle’s face into the turnbuckle and hits a Sunset Flip Powerbomb!

Perry is feeling it now, he wants the running knee, but Fletcher catches him and applies the single leg crab. Perry tries to kick him away, but Fletcher stomps on him instead. Perry does catch his leg and transitions into the Snare Trap! Fletcher looks like he just dumped in his nappy of fear lol. Fletcher is almost to the ropes, but he starts to fade out. At the last second, he gets his middle finger on the rope. Perseverance!

We’re approaching the three-minute warning (Settle down, Easy-E), as both men trade forearms from different levels. Perry off the ropes but Fletcher with a half-and-half. Big boot, but Kyle’s powerbomb is countered with a sunset flip! Piledriver form Perry! The cover, Kyle kicks out at 2.9!

Two minutes left as we get THIS IS AWESOME chants. Perry blindly charges into a victory roll from Fletcher for a two. Perry responds in kind for a two. Perry off the ropes, but he is floored by a lariat from Kyle. Fletcher puts Perry on the top, but Jack with a headbutt to send Fletcher to the mat. Perry is unsteady on the top rope, as Fletcher kicks out his vertical base.

One minute left, as Fletcher hits the running kick and the Brainbuster for the win!
WINNER: Kyle Fletcher (3-2-9 points)
TIME: 19:15
THOUGHTS: Fantastic match and, despite the circumstances of starting off at 0-1 already, Perry has managed to turn in a respectable run in the C2. Kyle is Kyle and there was little doubt that he would be getting the win here and get ever closer to winning the whole thing.
RATING: ****

Renee Paquette has Roderick Strong in the back. She says he can play spoiler to Claudio tonight, but someone wants to talk to him. It’s Kyle O’Reilly! Kyle sees the doubt in the eyes of Strong. Kyle wouldn’t be here of it wasn’t for guys like Strong. Look at what has happened to Kyle, look what has happened to Roddy. He wants a Christmas Miricale from Roddy tonight, but Kyle knows that Strong can beat Claudio on his worst night. Tonight, he wants to see Roderick F’n Strong! Interesting that Strong did not say one word during Kyle’s speech.

Takeshita and Dorada is up next!

COMMERCIALS!

It’s time for an Alpha!

Continental Classic Match – Blue League: Konosuke Takeshita (3-0-1-10 points) vs. Mascara Dorada (2-2-6 points)

The bell rings, and we get an early headlock from Dorada. Snapmare attempt, but Dorada lands on his feet. Takeshita tries it again, but Dorada escapes again and this time he flips. Showoff lol. Dorada with arm control, but Takeshita reverses that. Takeshita spins around the back of Dorada and throws him to the mat. He taunts him but then offers his hand to pick him up. Handshake as well. Sportsmanship!

Reversals are the name of the game now, with Dorada sneaking in a Crucifix pin for a two. Dorada’s turn to talk some smack, but Dorada also offers his hand to Takeshita. Konosuke takes it but lays in with chops and kicks in the corner. Dorada with a chop, but the shoulder tackle was a dud. Same result on a second attempt, but on the third try, Takeshita follows him in with a kick.

Dorada rebounds with a knee and a kick. He walks the top rope and hits a springboard arm drag. Dorada off the ropes with a snap Rana. Takeshita rolls out to the floor, Dorada to the top rope, but his attack misses Takeshita and instead finds the barricade. That’ll lead us into the break.

Back in the ring, Dorada with a 450 splash! The cover, Takeshita kicks at 2.5! Takeshita keeps Dorada from running away and catches him with a Blue Thunder Bomb for a two!

Again, the fans state the obvious with the THIS IS AWESOME chants, as both men trade forearms. Thrust kick from Takeshita, Dorada charges in, but Takeshita catches him only to lose him in the lights with a Poison Rana! Takeshita recovers and puts Dorada on the top rope and hits a modified buckle bomb. Takeshita looking for something in the corner, but Dorada with an enziguri to slow down Takeshita. Snap Rana from the corner Dorada, but Takeshita catches him and sits down into a package driver! The cover, but Dorada rolls through for the two.

Takeshita lights up Dorada with a big lariat and hits the Overdrive Knee. He follows up with the Raging Fire for the win!
WINNER: Konosuke Takeshita (4-0-1-13 points)
TIME: 11:40
THOUGHTS: My memory may not serve me so well, but I feel like this is the most points that anyone has ever put up in the C2 to date? Takeshita didn’t even need this win, but he still wanted to avoid going on cruise control, nonetheless. Dorada was game and had a great tourney.
RATING: ***3/4

Roddy and Claudio will bash it up next!

Commander Claudio is here, complete with CMLL Title and awesome theme song.

Claudio pulls him back up to the apron and hits a suplex from the corner. Claudio throws off his elbow pad and hits a flying elbow for a two. Running Uppercut from Claudio gets another two.

To the floor we go, as Claudio throws Strong into the crowd. Strong emerges, so Claudio leaves the ring and drops Strong onto the barricade and sends him back into the crowd. He returns to the ring, content to take the count out, but here comes Roddy. He enters the ring and hits Claudio with the Angle Slam. The pin, and the win!
WINNER: Roderick Strong (1-4-3 points)
TIME: 3:20
THOUGHTS: That was uh, quite the surprise. I figured Roddy was going to win to avoid losing out, but I didn’t think it would be out of the blue like that. Good for him, though!
RATING: **3/4

Post-match, the Death Riders are here to jump Roddy. Mark Briscoe is here with a 2×4 to run off the guys. Marina remains on the apron, as she jaws with Briscoe. Here comes Toni Storm! She pulls Marina off the apron and goes to attack her, but the Death Riders take her away. Toni wants to shake Mark’s hand, and not only does he shake her hand, but he kisses her hand! Careful, Mark, that can lead to kid number 11!

Promo from The Bang Bang Gang. It’s literally the same one they played last night.

A Chicago Street fight ponders Big Stoke. They accept the challenge. But he has a question for Juice and Austin. How can you go to sleep at night knowing that you have to beg for chance after chance? They will see you on Saturday but Stoke warns you that whatever FTR do to them, they will not be held responsible. Top Guys, OUT!

Video promo for the Women’s World Title Match between Kris Statlander and Jamie Hayter. Lowkey, this match should be bloody amazing, and I love Jamie leaning into the heel tactics.

Kevin Knight is here, and this Jet will fly!

Continental Classic Match – Gold League: Kevin Knight vs. PAC (Both men are 2-2-6 points)

The bell rings, as both men circle each other. Early lockup, go-behind by Knight, PAC reverses, so Knight takes PAC to the mat. Knight with arm control as he snaps PAC to the mat. Knight has the arm locked, but PAC makes it to the ropes to get a break.

PAC takes a page from Samoa Joe’s book with the NOPE spot as he walks away from Knight’s attempt to fly. PAC goes and stands in the corner for a bit before jawing with some fans. PAC re-enters the ring and kicks Knight in the gut. Hard Irish Whip from PAC, as he smashes Knight’s head into the corner. Both men proceed to reverse one another in the corner after chops, so PAC lays in some forearms. PAC with a variation of the front Russian Leg Sweep.

Knight returns PAC to the ring and hits the pendulum DDT for a two. Knight corners PAC and hits the mounted punches. Snapmare by Knight into a basement clothesline for a two as we go to the break.

PAC with a missile dropkick during the break, but Knight is fighting back as we return. PAC misses on his swing, and Knight hits PAC with a standing flying clothesline. Knight to the top, but his attack is thwarted as PAC throws him to the mat. PAC now tries to go up top, but Knight rips him from the top rope and hits a standing UFO Splash for a two.

KEVIN KNIGHT chants as he charges in and lands on the apron. He springboards back into the ring, but he runs into an overhead throw from PAC that sends Knight over the top and off the steps and to the floor. That was crazy! Crazier yet is that Knight beats the count, so PAC greets him with a charging back elbow. PAC sits Knight on the top rope and hits an Avalanche Overhead Belly-to-Belly. PAC with the pin for a two.

PAC looking for the Brutalizer, but Knight very quickly finds his way to the bottom rope. Knight with forearms, but PAC shuts that down with a kick to the gut. Knight’s dropkick fails when PAC holds the ropes. The Locomotion starts up, but PAC runs right into a dropkick. Knight to the apron, springboard back in with a flying clothesline. Low-Down variation from Knight for a two.

More KEVIN KNIGHT chants as we have just five minutes left to go. Both men to the floor, Knight looking for a flying clothesline from the apron, but PAC catches him and hits a German. PAC flips off the fans as he re-enters the ring and wants the count out. Knight makes it back in just in time, as PAC sets up Knight in the corner. He goes to the top, but Knight leaps up to the top rope and hits a Superplex!

FIGHT FOREVER chants which, yeah, okay, that makes sense (/sarcasm). Both men trade forearms from their knees, and the trading continues from a vertical base. PAC with a back kick, a front kick, and another back kick. Running big boot in the corner, but Knight stalks him across the ring and hits a running dropkick.

Two minutes left to go, as PAC is down and Knight is looking to go Coast-to-Coast, and he hits the dropkick! Knight to the top rope, UFO Splash, but PAC gets his knees up and rolls him up for a two. The PAC train is back on track, and he trucks Knight with a lariat, but it’s just a two. PAC goes to the top again, Black Arrow, but it meets the knees of Knight for a two! Roll-up by Knight for a two! Another roll-up for a two! PAC looking for the Brutalizer, but time has run out!
WINNER: Time Limit Draw (Both men are now 2-2-1-7 points)
TIME: 20:00
THOUGHTS: Yeah, that was fantastic. Knight is, lowkey, the highlight of this tournament, as he has stolen some wins, he has looked great in defeat, and he has broadened his wrestling horizons. PAC was, as usual, the Bastard, and he played the perfect foil for Knight.
RATING: ****1/2

RATING: ***1/4

Willow on the mic post-match. NEW YORK! Gather around, everyone. Let’s curl up by the fire. We want to tell you a little Christmas Story. They ran into Santa…

(Harley sits on the knee of Willow)

Willow: Little girl, what do you want for Christmas?
Harley: Well, I got everything I want, what do you want Santa?

Okada cuts that off with a clothesline. The Rainmaker is countered by Bailey on a roll–up for a two. Standing knee drop misses, and Okada sends Bailey to the apron. WINNER: Kazuchika Okada (3-2-9 points)
TIME: 16:20
THOUGHTS: And in the last Round Robin C2, we received one final, fun gift in the form of another kick arse match between these guys. The end game has always been Okada-Takeshita at some point, but man, I wouldn’t have been upset if Bailey had managed to win here and move on. But the smart money is in the DCF exploding, and that is what we are going to get!
RATING: ****

Post-match, Okada celebrates his win. Konosuke Takeshita arrives to get in the face of Okada, as Don Callis tries to place peacemaker.

And with that, we are done!

The final score: review Very Good
The 411
The only bad thing about the Continental Classic is that the round robin has to end at some point, and while it did end tonight, we were blessed with even MORE awesome gifts in the form of many matches that were great to outstanding. I also liked the drama in the Gold League, as everyone entered with six points. It was fun seeing Willow and Harley get a non-title win to prepare for Saturday, and I am glad that Hyan and Maya World keep getting featured. Saturday is gearing up to be the true World's End or, at the very least, the calendar's end.
