Karen Q vs. Stella Gray: Karen Q has been a really impressive up and comer, training along with Deonna Purrazzo under Rip Rogers; Purrazzo is joining Riccaboni on commentary. Gray is an ROH dojo graduate with around 6-months experience. They work some basic back and forth before going for roll ups and cradles. Gray tries to pick up the pace, key word tries, but Karen cuts her off and works her over in the corner, hitting forearms and kicks. The XPLODER followed, and gets 2 for Karen. Gray lays in some lethargic strikes and kicks, and then works a head scissors in the ropes. Back in and Karen cuts her off, hits a basement dropkick and standing moonsault for 2.Gray with a backslide for 2, and then a roll up for 2. They collide center ring for a double down. Gray now lays in some back elbows and a running kick, the elbow drop gets 2. Karen hits a jawbreaker, and after an awkward exchange, Gray hits a DDT for 2. Gray locks in a camel clutch, but Karen escapes into a backpack stunner and the Boston crab finishes it. Karen Q defeated Stella Gray @ 6:45 via submission [*] This was gray’s first match in front of a live crowd, and it showed. She needs a lot of in ring time, as she is slow and very tentative. They allowed her to take a lot of the match here, looking to expedite her learning process, but it didn’t work out well at all. Karen Q came off as the more polished performer, and this really should have been more of a showcase for her as I feel that it would have come off better. Good work lizard man.
Sumie Sakai & Brandi vs. Jenny Rose & Mandy Leon: Mandy Leon is currently touring with STARDOM, attempting to kill superior performers like Toni Storm with her horrible brand of wrestling. This is Brandi’s ROH debut. Brandi and Leon start things off. They lock up and Brandi hits some sloppy roll ups. She fires back with kicks and knees before tagging in Sakai. Slow double teams follow and Sakai covers for 2. Rose tags in, they double-team Sakai and Rose covers for 2. Rose keeps control, hitting the side slam for 2. Sakai fights back with a forearm smash, Brandi tags in and works a head scissors. Rose escapes, and works the Muta lock. Sakai in and breaks it up. Rose takes her out; Brandi hits a dropkick off the second rope, covering for 2. Rose cuts her off and tags out to Leon. She hits the Hennig neck snap, and then the full nelson with the legs. Brandi fights out and hits an X-factor and Brandi tags in Sakai, dropkicks and a northern lights get 2. The missile dropkick follows, back up top and Rose cuts her off allowing Leon to hit a head scissors. Sakai hits a fisherman’s neck breaker. Sakai and Brandi look to double team Leon, but Leon just falls down on her face. Sakai misses the assisted cannonball, Leon hits a clothesline on Brandi but Rose flies in and takes out Sakai. Leon hits Brandi with an unprettier for 2. She locks in the Havana dream and the ref stops the match. Jenny Rose & Mandy Leon defeated Sumie Sakai & Brandi @ 8:13 via pin [*] This was another bad match, watching Brandi & Mandy Leon try to work spots together may have taken years off of my life. Watching these two was like watching people trying to wrestle under water, it was slow, lifeless and just bad. I know Brandi has very little experience, but they were both very bad here.
Kelly Klein vs. Deonna Purrazzo: Klein has been running the Women of Honor, not being pinned or submitted, and only losing via countout (to Karen Q); Purrazzo has been a thorn in her side and has been the closest to beating her straight up, but Klein has resorted to less than sportsman like tactics to win. No messing around here as they brawl right away. Purrazzo attacks with chops, hits a bicycle kick and takes the fight to the floor. Klein takes control until she gets posted. Back in and Purrazzo attacks the arm to follow up on Klein getting posted, and to set up her arm bar finish. Klein starts to fight back, lays in knee strikes and then a DDT, covering for 2. Klein tosses Purrazzo to the floor, and hangs out in the ring for a breather. Purrazzo rolls back in but is met with a snap, dragon and northern lights suplex. Purrazzo goes after the arm again, but Klein breaks that and the roll to the floor. Klein tries to follow up, but Purrazzo slams her to the barricade and then the apron. Purrazzo keeps attacking, and they do a double down on the floor. Karen Q is out in the entranceway now, Purrazzo makes it back in the ring as Karen is now at ringside. She and Purrazzo argue, Karen stuns her off the ropes allowing Klein to pick up the win. Kelly Klein defeated Deonna Purrazzo @ 7:25 via pin [**½] They are tying these three together, as Purrazzo’s distraction allowed Karen to get a countout win on Klein. But all the talk is about Klein and Purrazzo; Karen is sick and tired of not being looked at as a top WOH star, and is making her case to be noticed and be more that Purrazzo’s friend and training partner. The match was going well, but the finish was really flat, even if it played into the feud they are developing.
– Post match, Karen attacks Purrazzo and beats the shit out of her.
– End scene.
– Thanks for reading.
