Champion Tessa Blanchard vs. Faby Apache: Apache is the current AAA Reina de Reinas champion, but that title is not on the line here. Apache takes control right away, hits a RANA and that gets 2. They work into a series of counters and Tessa finally cuts ff Apache and takes control. Tessa follows with clotheslines and a belly to back suplex. Apache counters back into a cradle and then transitions to an inverted figure four, but Tessa makes the ropes. Apache now lays in rights, hits a kick and the sitout implant buster gets 2. Apache takes Tessa up top, follows her up and Tessa knocks her off and then flies in with the MX (code breaker she calls the Magnum) for 2. Apache fires back but Tessa hits the buzz saw DDT for the win. Champion Tessa Blanchard defeated Faby Apache @ 5:30 via pin [***] This was a short, but good match. I expected Tessa to win, but was surprised that she beat AAA’s champion so quickly and clean. It’s great for Tessa, but a bit surprising.

– Post match, Tessa puts herself over and claims she’s run through all the competition and the best in Mexico. She’s the best wrestler and athlete in professional wrestling; the one and only diamond of the knockouts division. Taya Valkyrie arrives on the video screen, and says Tessa hasn’t defeated her so she can’t be the best. She challenges Tessa to a title match at Bound For Glory. She respects Tessa, even if everyone thinks she’s a bitch. Having Taya challenge in Mexico makes sense due to her history there, and I love setting up another PPV match, but like Johnny Impact’s challenge it came off cold and this one doesn’t make all that much sense as Taya hasn’t been around for a long while and didn’t do anything to deserve the shot. She’s challenger of the month here.

– Eddie meets with Alisha, who wants nothing to do with him. They argue and Alisha calls him crazy. Johnny Impact arrives and says they need to work together to succeed.

– Sami cuts a promo with oVe and takes credit for selling out Bound for Glory. He then announces the already announced Jake vs. Cage match. Jake is not thrilled about this news.

– Eli Drake walks around Mexico City, noting that he’s part Mexican, and next week, will issue an open challenge to a luchadore.

X-Division Champion Cage vs. Jake Crist: Dave & Sami are at ringside. Cage attacks at the bell and just tosses Jake around and knocks Dave to the floor. To the floor and Sami attacks Cage with a tornado DDT. Back in and Jake takes control. He grounds the action and then starts working the arm of Cage. Cage cuts off the RANA and hits a single armed powerbomb. The knee strike and 619 follows. Cage up top and hits the elbow drop for 2. Cage follows with a sitout Alabama slam for 2. Jake fires back, hits enziguris and covers for 2. Jake up top and Cage cuts him off and follows him up. Jake cuts him off and hits the super cutter for 1. Cage is pissed now and drill claw finishes it. Champion Cage defeated Jake Crist @ 4:40 via pin [**½] His was a solid match to advance the 6-man feud ahead of BFG; the post match was a good addition.

– oVe attacks post match, but the lights gout and Dave has disappeared. Fenix & Pentagon have abducted him and we see them attacking him on the big screen. Cage then beats down Sami & Jake and wipes them out with a tope.

– Moose & Kross cut a promo on tonight’s main event. Moose calls himself a legend and Kross says they have big plans and will stop Johnny Impact.

– GWN flashback to BFG 2006 & LAX vs. Styles & Daniels in a cage match (GREAT Fucking match).

– Grado & Henry talk backstage and Katarina arrives. She tries to make nice with them and they want no part of her. Katarina says that it was all a misunderstanding and has a gift for them. She introduces MURDER Clown and Hendry will face him next week.

– Scarlett is here for her big announcement. Scarlett says she’s revolutionized the company and almost led Fallah Bahh to a world title. Tonight she is issuing a global talent search and they will get her attention 24/7.

Champions LAX (Santana & Ortiz) vs. Desi Hit Squad (Raju & Singh): Gama Singh & Konnan are at ringside. Raju and Santana to begin. They work into some fast paced back and forth, Ortiz tags in and LAX then work double teams. Ortiz hits the falling splash for 2. He follows with chops, but Singh trips him up and pulls Ortiz to the floor and works him over. Ortiz is rolled back in and Raju covers for 2. Singh tags in and hits a slam for 2. The Squad work quick tags and double teams, and Raju covers for 2. The Squad continues to control until Ortiz dumps Raju but Sing cuts him off as Santana is pulled to the floor. He’s back and tags in with a high cross. He runs wild on Singh, and hits a suicide dive. Back in and LAX works double teams and on Singh but Raju makes the save. The Squad dumps Ortiz and double teams Santana, and the sky high gets 2. LAX cuts them off and work more double teams; the street sweeper finishes it. LAX defeated Desi Hit Squad @ 7:20 via pin [**½] This was a solid tag match that started off hit but the crowd lost interest when the Hit Squad took control. Despite LAX pulling out all of their signature fun stuff, no one cares about Desi Hit Squad, who continues to only exist as warm bodies to occupy TV space when needed.

– King arrives on the screen and call LAX Young Boy Bitches, and says he’ll take out Konnan & BFG. He shows off old pics of Konnan, calling him a myth and that back then they all looked up to him, but no more. Konnan lost his mask and lost everything, lost his legacy, and then started leeching off people, like Eddie Guerrero & Art Barr as well as Rey Mysterio. But he and the OGz figured him out. King promises to end Konnan and then burns Konnan’s old mask. Hell of a promo from King here.

– Fallah Bahh reads KM a bedtime story and sings him a lullaby (it was amazing); KM is still badly injured from last week. KM asks him to get revenge for them and tells him to go.

– Tessa comments on Taya’s challenge and says Taya disappeared when she showed up. Tessa accepts the challenge for BFG and promises to show Taya how much of a bitch she can be.

Allie & Kiera Hogan vs. Su Yung & The Undead Maid of Honor: Allie and Yung to begin. They trade strikes and Yung tags in the Undead Maid of Honor. Allie maintains control with a clothesline and covers for 2. Hogan tags in and they work double teams and get a cover for 2. The Undead Maid of Honor fights back, but Hogan cuts her off with a RANA and covers for 2. Allie back in and more double teams follow. Yung cuts off Allie with a kick on the floor, rolls her back in and she and the Undead Maid of Honor attack. Double teams follow and the Undead Maid of Honor covers for 2. Yung tags back in and works a front choke, but Allie hits a desperation backstabber. The Undead Maid of Honor pulls Hogan to the floor, and Yung hits a palm strike on Allie, covering for 2. Allie counters panic switch and they work into a double down. Allie tags in Hogan and she runs wild for a bit and hits a superkick. The corner ass attack and running kick follow and she covers for 2. The Undead Maid of Honor makes the save, Allie cuts her off and superkicks Yung. Allie and the Undead Maid of Honor brawl to the floor and Hogan hits the fisherman’s neck breaker on Yung for the win. Allie & Kiera Hogan defeated Su Yung & The Undead Maid of Honor @ 6:57 via pin [**] This was ok overall, but never got out of first gear and felt rather flat despite Hogan picking up a big win.

– Swann meets with a mediating Sydal, and is still not buying what he’s selling. He wants to kick his ass and challenges him to a match next week.

Johnny Impact & Eddie Edwards vs. Moose & Killer Kross: Aries is at ringside. Edwards and Kross to begin. Edwards chases and Moose drops to the floor. Impact tags in and Kross looks to overpower him, rakes the eyes and but Impact hits the dropkick and Moose tags in. Edwards tags in but Moose runs and tags out. Kross attacks and works over Edwards until Impact tags in and Kross cuts him off with rolling suplexes to take control. Post break, and Moose has the heat on Impact, laying in chops. Impact quickly counters back and tags in Edwards as Moose bails. Edwards lays in chops on Kross, but Kross cuts him off and now Moose wants in and lays n ground and pound on Edwards. Moose now bites Edwards, and follows with some chops after wiping his balls. The dropkick follows, Kross tags back in and hits the giant swing and then locks on a cloverleaf. Edwards fights off a suplex, but Kross lays in rights but Edwards hits a suplex counter. Impact tags backing and works over Kross with strikes. The dropkick follows, knocks Moose to the floor and the knee strike on Kross gets 2. Impact hits the sliding German and he heads up top and rolls through on the elbow drop attempt and he and Kross work into a double down. Wholesale changes to Moose and Edwards, they brawl and Edwards takes Moose up top and hits the RANA. Kross makes the save, hits an overhead throw. Impact and Kross brawl to the floor and Impact goes parkour and takes out Kross. Edwards hits the blue thunder bomb on Moose for 2. It break down and everyone is down. Aries is in and Impact lays him out with a belt shot. Kross hits the Saito and Edwards gets the cane and lights up Kross. Moose spears him and picks up the win. Moose & Killer Kross defeated Johnny Impact & Eddie Edwards @ 16:25 via pin [***] This was an overall good match, a bit flat in the middle, but overall did a good job of advancing the Moose vs. Edwards angle.

Next Week: Joe Hendry vs. Murder Clown, Rich Swann vs. Matt Sydal, Eli Drake’s open challenge, Su Yung vs. Kiera Hogan.

– End scene.

– Thanks for reading.

While I found that there was nothing absolutely must-see, this week’s episode of Impact Wrestling felt like an improvement over recent weeks. Tessa is now locked into a Bound for Glory match, King cut a killer promo and they advanced oVe vs. Cage & The Lucha Bros as well as Moose and Edwards well. They also did a nice job of setting up matches for next week. It still feels like something is missing in the build for Bound for Glory, but the shows remain solid and consistent.
