WWE News: Gotham Star Talks About Working With John Cena, The Big Show On Andre the Giant’s Legacy
– In an interview with The Bob and Tom Show (via PWInsider), Gotham actor Drew Powell spoke about working with John Cena, which they did on the set of the 2006 movie The Marine.
He said: “I did a movie with John Cena called the Marine, and we were shooting in Australia, and on the weekends, he would fly back to the United States to do WWE shows, saying ‘I’m going a show in Columbus or something’ and every Friday he’d fly out, and when he’d come back he’d have these little injuries, like a fat lip, or one time he looked like somebody had bitten a chunk out of his hand. I know it’s ‘fake’ but those dudes get HURT man. I knew he was gonna do well, even back then, because of how great his attitude was. We were all at a place in Hollywood called ‘Saddle Ranch’ which is the most cliche bar on Sunset Boulevard, and he’d probably hate me telling this story but I don’t care. We had a big night, he was fan of the Jaegermeister back then, probably isn’t anymore, but we had a big night, had a lot of fun. But he paid the check, and this was early John Cena, before he was as big as he is now, but in my Jaeger haze, I don’t remember the exact number, but I feel like there were a LOT of digits on the check. I tried to stop him but he insisted on paying. As we walked out, I turned around and when the waitress picked up the check, she had to sit down because of the size of the tip he gave her. I feel like it was a car payment for her, I was so impressed by that.”
