TNA & Anthem Sports & Entertainment Refute Claims That Wrestling Promotion is Up For Sale

As reported previously, sports business analyst Blake Avignon recently claimed that TNA’s parent company, Anthem Sports & Entertainment, is looking to sell the wrestling promotion for $40-50 million, with $30 million being the base price.

However, Mike Johnson of PWInsider reported this morning that several sources in both TNA and its parent company have denied the claims that Anthem Sports & Entertainment is seeking a sale.

The report noted that sources within Anthem Media specifically denied the price tag making the rounds. The sources described it as “undervaluing” the worth of TNA Wrestling.

Sources have also reportedly denied claims that WWE would have the right of first refusal to match outside offers for the promotion.

Another source questioned the timing of these reports, claiming that they appear to be aimed at “hurting the company” ahead of its marquee event, Slammiversary. The source also questioned the credibility of the reports, stating:

“A social media account with no track record or real following threw out grandiose statements, and everyone parroted it for no reason other than to grab attention for themselves.”

Several sources also claimed that Anthem Media rejected Scott D’Amore’s offer to buy the company a few years ago.
