Another Linda McMahon School Visit Canceled Due to Planned Protest
According to a report by AL.com, a planned visit by U.S. Education Secretary Linda McMahon to a school in Mobile, Alabama as part of her “History Rocks!” tour was canceled. McMahon, a former WWE President and executive, was set to visit a majority-Black Murphy High School in Mobile on Friday (Feb. 6).
It’s said that a protest for McMahon’s visit was planned, which likely caused the cancellation. The planned protest was organized by Maura Mandyck, who previously organized anti-Trump “No Kings” protests last year. According to Mandyck, a student reached out requesting the support of her organization, Indivisible Mobile. No further details or information regarding the cancellation were revealed.
Mandyck stated, “That student put it better than I could when they said, ‘I think it’s incredibly important to show that just because we are a famously red state does not mean we will comply with the regime taking over our country.'”
McMahon’s tour is sponsored by the conservative activist group Turning Point USA, the America First Policy Institute, Hillsdale College, and the America 250 Civics Education Coalition. The event was part of a nationwide initiative celebrating the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence in 1776. McMahon and Former Auburn head coach Bruce Pearl were expected to make remarks as part of the tour stop.
This is the second recent cancellation for McMahon’s tour of schools. Another planned visit for to a New York elementary school last month was also canceled.
