Backstage Notes on WWE’s Release of Santana Garrett
– Fightful Select has an update on the recent release of Santana Garrett. Per the report, her release was not a surprise to multiple people within the company.
Garrett was called up to the roster about a year earlier, but she was seldom used. Several creative plans were reportedly pitched for Garrett, including a trio with Chelsea Green and Vanessa Borne that nearly materialized but was ultimately scrapped. Chelsea Green was also released last April.
Additionally, WWE sources said that Garrett had not been backstage much for SmackDown since she and Green took it upon themselves to appear backstage last March. Since that time, there wasn’t word of WWE having any significant creative plans for her, but the report noted that’s not necessarily a sign that none were ever made.
Santana Garrett moved up to the main roster at the Royal Rumble. She had previously signed with WWE in 2019.
